What Matters Most, by Kellie Coates Gilbert

I was surprised by how much I liked this contemporary romance set in Austin, Texas. A very appealing romance, supported by plot details that were outside the usual, interesting, and well-done.

The heroine of this book has to leave college early to take care of her mom, who has dementia. Dementia, and the legislation around care of those patients, is one of the fascinating side aspects you will become painlessly more well-informed about as you read this tale.

You will also get an inside look at the opposition research done during political campaigns. Who knew that ultra-secret projects are undertaken by firms whose business it is to assist in the take-down and smearing of the other side’s candidate?

The hero is faultless, and the only dirt that is able to be scraped up on him is quite spurious. I won’t say more, because I don’t want to spoil your fun with this excellent romance novel.
